Re: The Value of the 7.3L and 6.0L after MY 2008

Rebates are used to entice folks to buy something that in Fords eyes may be stuck sitting on the dealers lot longer than they would like. If you take the rebate out of the equation you find that the 7.3 is just about equal to the 6.0L. I feel that the same will be true when the 6.4L comes to market. As the 7.3 was a bit cheaper to buy than the newer 6.0L so it will be for the 6.0L to the 6.4L. In fact it looks like the 6.4L may be several thousand dollars higher due to the emissions requirements and the cost of said equipment.

Seems there is a strong market for good used trucks and thus we will have little problem selling our 6.0L trucks when the time comes.

Sorry, but in today's market, how do you take rebates out of the equation?

And I agree, the 6.4 will undoubtedly be more expensive to buy new than the 6.0, but that is not the question. If the 6.4 costs $3000 more new, but brings $3000 more at trade-in (which it probably will not, everything depreciates), then there will be no 6.4 price "penalty".
