VIN number code? for 03 7.3/6.oL????

Is there a way to tell if an '03 is 6.0 or 7.3? (Auto trader has some with no pics, but the vin is supplied)

The engine code is in the 8th character of the VIN. If you can find a 2003 that has a 7.3 or 6.0 for sure you can compare the 8th character. Or perhpas a 2003 owner can speak up on their VIN.

The eighth VIN position is the engine displacement and number of cylinders.

F 7.3L, OHV, DI Turbo, V8, Diesel
L 5.4L, Modular, SOHC, EFI, V8, Gas
P 6.0L, OHV, DI Turbo, V8, Diesel
S 6.8L, SOHC, EFI, V10, Gas
Z 6.8L, compressed natural gas (NGV), SOHC, EFI

Thanks after posting I did a google and found what you said, the 8th didget is engine, THEN I DID compare two '03s on autotrader,,, the one I like is a 6.0L.... [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] Trying to find a good deal on a 7.3L CC Dually, 02 or O3....

P=6.0
F=7.3
