I got my truck on a scale and crapped my pants 11,400 empty. I have a heavy steel bed and full PTO hydraulic hoist. I am contemplating removal of the bed and hoist and putting on an aluminum bed. an aluminum bed weighs about 900 lbs I need the weight of the Cab & chassis so I can figure the weight of my hoist and bed.
99.5 F450 60" CA crew cab 4x4 6 speed
Thanks in advance

Ford estimates the '99-'03 F-450 7.3L PSD CrewCab 4x4 PSD with a 1,000-pound bed and 60" CA to be 26,000 GCWR minus 17,200 tow rating = 8,800 pounds. But we know their tow rating is overstated by a few hundred pounds because it doesn't include options such as AC, cruise control, etc. And no tools, cooler, passenger, or anything else.
I usually consider the minimum weight of a '99 F-450 with an aluminum tow body when wet and loaded for the road, including driver and one passenger, a cooler and a few tools, to be about 10,000 pounds. That makes a realistic tow rating of about 16,000 pounds max.
The PTO and dump cylinder are heavy suckers, and your steel bed must be really heavy to push you up over 11,000 pounds.
My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it a coupla years ago. I drove a hand-me-down 2003 F-150 SuperCrew 4.6L 2V for a while, but it was unacceptable for towing more than a rowboat. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat that tows my 5,000-pound TT like a dream.
My 2000 regular cab 450 had the shipping weight listed as 6240#, once upfitted with a tow truck body & full 19 gal. fuel (without driver) it weighed 9600# My 05 S/C F450 (with the same type bed)weighs 11,000 empty with 50 gal fuel, and no driver. The bare 05 S/C 2wd F450 cab chassis (with factory tank & 19 gal fuel) should weigh about 7000# Ford's tow ratings assume about 900-1000# body weight, but I don't remember which. LS
