What is the fitting on the steering knuckle

I'm replacing my ball joints and hub assy this week and I noticed a fitting on the knuckle with a red cap. It looks like it goes into the area where the seal for the outer part of the hub. Does anyone know what it's for and what type of fluid goes into it?

Thanks.

Re: What is the fitting on the steering knuckle

It's for the vacuum tubing on the trucks with ESOF. You have manual hubs so that part is not used. The hubs on ESOF are actuated by vacuum.

Re: What is the fitting on the steering knuckle

Thanks for the response. Looks like a grease fitting.
