What is the real difference between a F250 & F350

Between an F250 and F350 SRW, I have read that the only difference an additonal leaf spring in the rear. Can someone tell be if this is true?

I think up to 2004, the only difference between a 250 and a SRW 350 was the spacer blocks, at least that is what I found out doing a bit of research. For the 2005 year and on, I have read that there are a number of differences now, including differentials internals and spring rates.

Not true since the 2005 models came out. It was close to true for some months during '99-'04 model years. But for 2008, the differences other than the rear spacer blocks in 4x4s include:

<ul>[*] Rear springs are heavier on F-350 SRW unless the F-250 has an option that includes overload springs.[*] Rear axle is heavier-duty on F-350 SRW.[*] 17" standard tires and wheels on some F-250s, so pay attention if looking at trucks in stock - especially with XLT or XL trim.[/list]

Mostly true, the axle is the same model but has the larger axle shafts on the inside.

For quite some time now all SuperDutys have come with Dana 60 front axles, from 250 on up to 550. 450 and 550 have wider track Dana 60s. I think Dana 50 were dropped quite a while ago.

On 4x4s, Yes. Since '99-5 models, F-250 and F-350 DRW 4x4s have had 2" spacer blocks in the rear suspension. F-350 SRW 4x4s have had 4" spacers

Ummmmmmmmmm, no. F-250 4x4 and F-350 SRW 4x4 PSDs have the same Dana 60 front axle with 9.75" ring gear. F-350 DRW is a different animal, but this thread is only about SRWs. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif[/img]

99-01 SRW truck came with a Dana 50 front. In 2002+ all models came with the Dana 60.
