What size is the stock Goodyear tire on the 20" wheels?

Just for reference, what is the tire size on the stock 20" wheels? I want to go with new 20" aftermarket wheels on my 2002, but don't want something so wide that it zaps power/fuel economy. I looked at a 325/60R20, and man did that thing seem wide!

Depends on your definition of "zaps". The LT265/65R20 tires are 11.25" wide and a hair under 35" diameter. So it will almost be like mounting 35s on your truck. You're definitely going to take a big hit on MPG compared to stock tires - about the same as if you went with LT325/75R16 tires, which is the modern equivalent of the ancient 35s that are about 12" wide. Of course, you won't know your new MPG until after you have the speedo calibrated for the new tires.

The LT325/60R20 tires are 13" wide and 35.5" diameter, so those are definitely big meats. If you get those, then be certain your new wheels are at least 9" wide, and 9.5" or 10" would be better.

Re: What size is the stock Goodyear tire on the 20" wheels?

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I'm looking at a 20x10 wheel if I go with the 325's, but I'm shying away from such a big tire. If I go to a 20x9 wheel, would a 275/60/R20 look right on it? Is that too wide of a wheel? I think the stock wheels are 8" correct?

BTW, I have 285/75/R16's on now, so although not really big, I haven't had stock size meats for 100K or so miles.

Re: What size is the stock Goodyear tire on the 20" wheels?

With the stock Goodyear tire, 275/65/20, your overall gear ratio will go from a 3.73 with the stock 33" tires to a 3.62 with the 34.1" tire.

As I found, it will make a difference in pulling a load at HWY speeds when new.
