96-97 Water Pump heat return nipple

Hi All,

Just installed new water pump from NAPA only to find out that my old heater return nipple is too small for the new pump. Went all over town looking for the right size and couldn't find it.

Does someone have a Ford pn for it or know if I can pick it up at NAPA monday morning?

Thanks,

Mike

PS: The water pump install was easy! Except for the nipple.

Same basic thing happened to me, but it was the other way around. Nipple was too big. Come to find out that the WP i pulled was a later model pump and the one Napa sold me was for an actual 1995 model. Fortunetly i found that out before I installed the pump.

Early ones are NPT and the later ones are straight-thread o-ringed. Sorry I don't have any part numbers or sizes. Cheers!

The latest versions are a straight thread o-ring version and if I remember correctly they are (at hydrolic shop) a size 10 boss o-ring fitting (brass ones) with a nipple 5/8 I.D. for the heater hose (IIRC). Here in Canada are under $10.00....significanly less expensive then the stealership.....which it seems I was quoted 10 times that much.....

Take the pump to your local hydrolic shop and check to see that it is a size 10 boss fitting and match a nipple size with the stock heater hose I.D.

Yes, its a size 10 O ring boss. Got one with adapter to fit the old 1/2 NPT with nipple. Bought at local industrial supply for $8.

Thanks all for the replies,

Mike
