I am rebuilding the E4OD on my 97 F350 2WD and have it all apart and ready to go back together. I upgraded the clutches with Alto parts, replaced the planets and all bearings, thrust washers and seals and am installing a Tugger kit along with Sonnax upgrade valves on a new pump and have also put in a new solenoid valve.....
the only two things I was wondering about is on the new rebuild thrust washer kit, the old plastic one is replaced by a metal washer on the reverse planet and it does not lay flat and has a slight bow to it; is this normal. The other question is while disassembling the transmission a couple of the thrust needle bearing assemblies droped out of place as I was removing parts but the books aren't very clear on which way they face, some are self explanatory but others seem like they could fit either direction.......Any comments or suggestions?
