Okay, I have searched and may be searching incorrectly, but it seems I am probably the only poor sap with a 2-wheel drive F350 dually who has asked about changing out the rotors. The aftermarket manuals are worthless for this and I don't have the FSM. Can anyone tell me what I am in for/look out for in swapping the front rotors and replacing the pads? Any write-ups anywhere? I see 4WD entries all over but none for the 2WD. Any leads in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

The 95 factory manual says the F350 SRW 4x2 is a one piece hub/rotor and the F350 dually has the hub and rotor bolted together.
If the 97 is like the 95, you should have ten torx bolts that hold the rotor to the hub. Once you have the caliper off remove the ten bolts, pull the rotor off the hub and replace. Click HERE to go to a listing which shows separate rotors for your truck (1997 f350 dually two wheel drive). There are two sizes of rear brake shoes listed (3" and 3.5" width) but both show the same front rotor which is separate from the hub. Left and right are different, I imagine due to the direction of the vents in the center of the rotor.
If you look at yours and it is not like this then it is probably a one piece hub/rotor assembly like Joppy has and you will have to pull the caliper, remove the hub/rotor as a unit and replace as a unit. I would suggest replacing the bearings as well while you are in there, when I did mine (one piece hub/rotor) on my 95 F250 the hub/rotor came with bearing races but not with the bearings.
Hope this helps get you started.

If yours is the one pc units and you have to replace them I would get them "cryoed". Helps to improve the toughness and wear resistance.

On my 94 DRW, the hubs and rotors are separate. You have to remove the hub/rotor as an assembly (easy to do) and then use an impact wrench to undo the bolts holding the rotors to the hub (I wouldn't have been able to loosen them without it ... nothing to hold the assembly from rotating with standard wrenches). Mine were standard hex bolts vice torx. Cheers!
Thanks for all the input Guys. Sorry for the late reply. For some reason, my email notifications didn't come through and I got stuck on other projects and a last minute Boy Scout camping trip last weekend. I plain forgot to check back. I am tempted to just replace the pads and leave the rotors alone for now. The rotors have no deep scores in them and I don't have any vibration/pulling issues while braking. The pads are no gone, but getting close and are not that expensive. That might give me a little more time to research this, although we all hate "going in" more than once and would rather just get it done the first time. Again, Thanks!
I ordered rotors and pads from HERE . They seem to be well made and came highly recommended by some members on this site. You might want to give them a call to see if they make a rotor for your truck.
Good luck!

I was looking for the same info so I'm glad you asked. They say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. I changed out my pads last summer but hesitated on the rotors (not too bad yet) because I wasn't sure what all was involved. The people on here seem to have a lot of knowledge and are glad to help. Thanks everyone, for all the info.
