Mine does the same crap, i would love to know what it is doing ive checked fuel pressure oil pressure and all possible leaks and loose lines. I might just say the hell with it and order a new fuel pump and iprv, and ips.

how cold is it?? Remember..it IS a diesel. You may have some lowered compression thats not anything to worry about but may cause a cylinder or two to miss until they get some heat in them to fire.

Not tryin to hijack the thread but mine does it just at night when im headed home and it is between 40* to 50*. Low compression on a cylinder....dang lets hope not. Wouldnt it burn oil or smoke alittle if it had low compression because of blow by through the rings?

Just done it the last couple of days, temp has been in the mid to upper 50's. It acts like it is a complete shut down, but collects itself before it dies, not just a little miss.

My 94 does the same thing. It doesn't matter if you let it warm up for 10 minutes. It will have a miss till it gets warmed up and higher rpm's. Like you said it is just like flipping a switch and it runs great. I was told that it was the the clearances in the injector for the electronics. Well I guess 190K miles, I will just replace all of them. Let us now what you find out.

Yes the injectors with high miles like over 160 can have worn poppets valves and the armature plate clearance is then out of spec. The spec on new injector armature plate is .004 in and old injector is .002 in. Any thing less will cause this cold miss or no start unless plugged in but after it runs for a few minutes all is good. This armature plate clearance can be measured with feeler gauge but requires pulling valve covers off and then removing the solenoids off injector and is delicate work as you dont want to drop the small screws.
