My truck is doing the same thing, picked up new cps today but did not have time to change it due to the high paid weather men that screwed up yet again. 10"s of snow and 1 to 4 was perdicted. Noticed my check engine light came on when this happened, this didnt happen in my other 97 when cps was bad. So it makes me wonder.

Yes, I have the chip with three position selector. Should I be looking for loose chip and or cord? The only time truck acted up was when when plowing snow.
