97 PSD w 60k and 3800 hours

This reg cab 4x4 auto looks in real good shape, was owned by Gov agency, and im just wondering if the hours seem high. I would think alot of ideling , or slow driving picking up cones and such...so, is there anything i should be concerned about with this many hours? Whats the hour expectancy on these motors...i know marine diesels, but not the PSD to well.

Thanks for any feedback

My 06 duramax with that many miles has half the hours. So - yes - seems high.

If the price is good I'm not sure I'd let that bother me.

That would mean an average of 100mph to drive 100k miles in 1000 hours. right?

My'05 has 63K miles with 1450 hrs. 3800 hrs does seem pretty high. One concern, would be how often they changed oil. Did they go by miles or by hours...I know where I work, all our equipment (including trucks) gets a service at every 200 hrs, regardless of mileage.

Ah, OK, thank you.
BTW I discovered it incidentally, because I heard a strange noise (tic-tac like a BOMB) under the dash and following it I discovered the hour meter in the globe box, but really I dont know how many hours are there, next time Im going to check it (its not my daily driver and now I have a bad swerve in my right ankle) and Ill post here also with the miles. I do the maintainance according to the odometer.
