97 psd won't rev past 2200 - Diesel Forum

i own a 97 psd with 237000 miles and the problem i have is when i put the fuel padal to the floor with tranny in park park the motor starts breaking up at around 2200 rmp for couple of seconds as its try to rev up to redline on tac.the truck is bone stock with just a straight pipe anybody out there had this problem before

Fuel filter ok? I'd try the easiest first and clean the screen on the FPR and maybe check fuel pressure

the truck has a new fuel filter. how much fuel pressure should this truck have. i got this truck last week with the intent to sell and make a few bucks off it i picked it up dirt cheap. what is the easy way to shim the fpr.

I think stock it should have in the neighborhood of 50-60 psi. I shimmed mine with a 3/16 bb from a kid's red-ryder bb gun. A small flathead screw from and electrical receptical works well between the spring too. That should put you in the 70 psi range. That screen, if its plugged, can foul things up and an FPR shim won't do any good.
