Exclamation acting odd

Hi all, did a search and didnt find anything to help me so maybe someone out there can.
My truck started acting odd today. While driving down the road the speedo started jumping all over the place, the trans stared shifting all over the place and if i gave it any throttle it would blow white smoke out of the pipe. And then it would run fine for a few miles and start all over. Does anybody have any idea of what might be causing this? The truck is stock. Thanks

The trans & speedo prob may well be the VSS on the rear axle, or the wiring leading to it,,,The white smoke ,,,not to sure about...

also...i would check the valve cover harnesses for burnt pins..you can do a sniff test on the valve cover with the oil fill...just remove the oil cap...if you smell burnt electrical that would be a place to look.

Changed the VSS and the fuel filter this morning. Seemed to take care of both problems. Thanks again guys.
