battery cable removal/installation

howdy all-
trying to remove my + batt cable, what is the quickest way to get this off? I see it goes through the plastic protector, that goes through a couple of holders on its way down to the starter (sorry for al the technical jargon! lol)
After I get it out, how do I fish the new one back through the same mess?
