Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

Does anyone know if the blue fuel pump hoses are silicone and if not what they are made of? I am trying to buy by the foot, and no one seems to sell silicone fuel hose. Even tried a google search. Thanks.

PS, last time i changed a pump Ford was out of the metal gaskets for the pump line bolt. I used hydralic o-rings, (probably nitrile) and they have worked fine for 3 yrs. Viton or nitrile will withstand fuel or oil--don't use plain rubber if you find yourself without the metal gaskets.

Re: Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

I don't know if you can get that by the foot anywhere. I know Ford sells just those three hoses in a little kit at the dealer. I replaced mine w/ just regular hose. When I took the blue hose off I cut it open and compaired it to regular hose. It was the same in construction and material except for the blue exterior on our stock hose. I always been under the impression that the blue coating is a little more heat resistant that regular hose.

It gets 21-23 mpg consistently (on the highway) and 17 mpg in town. My remaining planned mod list includes Amsoil & electric radiator fans.

Hers: 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic; 2.2Ecotec 4 cylinder. VERY dissapointed in mpg's.

Re: Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

When I changed my hoses out a little over a year ago, I just went over to the local Napa store and got some Diesel rated hose of the same size. They sold it by the foot and it was black instead of blue. Can't remember how much, but is was not expensive.

Re: Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

A standard 30R7 grade fuel hose will work.

Re: Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

Thanks for the input. My conclusion is the blue hose is a high temp hose. No one is selling a silicone fuel hose anywhere from the internet to napa. I have heard marine fuel hose is high temp too. I noticed the regular black nitrile hose gets hard after about 2 years and begins to check and develop small cracks. Just saw a 96 with original blue hose on it with cracking just starting! With the turbo heat in the valley, that blue hose is close to Nasa grade.

That's what the dealer told me, they didn't have it in stock though and I didn't wanna wait, regular fuel seems to work fine so far.

Re: Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

the blue hoses on my truck have had cracks on them for years and still haven't leaked. i noticed within the 1st year that the hoses were showing cracks (i bought this truck new), so i wouldn't replace them unless they are leaking.

Re: Blue Fuel Pump Hoses

Aeroquip has a blue hose that looks to be identical to the stock one. That is what I used when I replaced mine. I agree even though the external case on the hose was cracked the hoses had not hardened up on the inside.
