What kind of bypass oil filter system is most everyone using. Is it possible to buy a remote filter and do it yourself and just buy the filter? Where on a 1996 PSD do you tie in on the supply and return on this filter?
I did my own. It took about 20 minutes. Ports for doing supply and return are on the same side of the engine as the main engine oil filter. I used the Racor Bypass because I can get Racor products for about %50 off retail

I am current running a full flow/bypass combination filter made by Fleetguard. IT incorparates a bypass filter into the full flow filter. I just starting useing them but seem to be working very well. I will also be installing a baldwin b164 filter with the correct base as another bypass filter.

lf9027 I have some for sale down in the classified section under "other Items" I had to buy a case of 12 and can't use that many in a reasonable time so I am just selling them what I bought them for to get some of my money back out of them. PM me if you want to try one (or two!!)

How is the Fleetguard Venturi been working for you? Have you compared it to Baldwin's dual flow? How about to a Donaldson bypass?

I use a venturi combo along with a seperate fleetguard bypass. I only use the seperate bypass because I had it set up already before I learned of the venturi combo. I do pretty regular oil analysis. I usually run 10,000 miles on texaco mineral oil and generally only see .3% insolubles. I don't know how much of a gauge this is but I can usually still see through my oil on the dipstick when it's warm when I change it. I use the LF9691 oil filter which is larger than the stock filter but still fits on the filter base just fine. It's probably about a quart larger in capacity I would guess.
