hi, all! need help! 1997 f250 hd 7.3 automatic. starts o.k. mild surge at idle(5-6 or 700) then CEL and stumbles badly. sometimes recovers, but usually dies. engine temp seems to be no factor, as it does this even with a warm engine. sometimes it will smooth out and run normally, but at normal running rpm, will shudder, shake and want to stall,but usually recovers. does not smoke when it runs rough, at least not when it does this from idle. have read so many posts that i think i'm confusing myself. any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Mine did the same thing. Mine was a fried wiring harness. Take off the oil cap and see if it smells like electrical burning. Good Luck
