Changed oil rail plug - no start

My dad and I just finished changing his rear passenger oil rail plug to fix a leak and now the engine doesn't start. Does the oil rail need to be bled?

It will take a lot of cranking to refill the oil passages back up to get that side to want to fire up. Check your high pressure oil pump and make sure that it is full. Then after it starts it might run rough for quite a while. The best way to get it to smooth out is to take the truck on a 30 mile drive at freeway speeds to bleed all the air out of the lines.

It took like half an hour of cranking with breaks in between as not to fry the starter before I started mine when I did my Injector o-rings and I filled the rails up before. As Bugman said you need to go for a good cruise at a prolonged 2000-3000 rpm to bleed all the air out of the system . . . Just take it easy on the starter and make sure batteries are fully charged.
