Okay let me give some history here. One day coming home from work, as I exit the freeway and pull up to a light the truck dies, but it fires right up and I continue home. I think to myself, maybe CPS.
Now present day, about 4 days ago I'm in Blythe for a class. The truck fires right up after class, and I drive to Flyin J for some fuel and other things. As I leave, the truck dies again and fires right up again. I drive for about 2 1/2 hrs and the truck stumbles, and misses. Blew a huge black smoke cloud when it caught ( all at Freeway speeds).
The truck was hard to start this morning, the Tach was moving, but once it fired I drove it to work. I'm thinking the hard to start is due to a GPR, needing to be replaced.
My true concern is, does the symptoms described above sound like a CPS problem or do I need to look at some other areas also?
I do have a chip, but haven't removed it yet.
Any help, guidance or suggestions would be appreciated. TIA, Carl.

Have you had the recall done on the CPS yet? I would check with the dealer first before I bought one just in case. At least it will save you a couple of bucks if it hasn't been done on your truck.
If you go to this WEB SITE and put in your vin it will pull up any recalls that are outstanding on your truck.
