Dead GPs Burnt UVCH - Have Valve covers off should I change anything else???

I have been having problems (major problems) starting my PSD when cold if not plugged in. It's a Van and it's been a Pain in the Rear to get those valve covers off. I got it. I ended up slitting and bending the metal around the doghouse lip near the valve cover on the Passenger side and got some little 1/4 drive ratchets to get the bolts loose. Anyways, so far so good. I can now see everything. Good feeling to say the least.

ANYWAYS, enough of that, no victory yet. I still need to fix this thing.

Ok, so here's my list let me know if I should add anything:
-Glow Plugs.
-UVCH is burnt and burnt isn't the word for it. I'm surprised this thing still runs. The one on the firewall side/passenger is pretty much completely melted into a blob. AND one of the wires going to the Pass/Firewall glow plug was completely burnt off at the harness as in no connection.

So those things..

I'll be changing those. Is there anything else that I need to change while I'm in there? The van runs great when it's warm. It seems like it sort of hunts idle slightly but that's the only thing that doesn't sound like brand new. Acceleration is great, no noticeable problems or smoke at this time.

But I'm considering replacing the o-rings or rebuilding my injectors while I'm in there. The other part of me says if it aint broke don't fix it. What do you guys think?

LASTLY, what about the UVCH, any recommendations or models/sellers to avoid? I know about not using the Autolight GPs. I've got Motorcraft ZD11s on the way.

Ok I said lastly, but one more thing... I broke one of the wiring harness clips (brittle from heat). Is there a way to fix that?

thanks!
Nick

I'm with the feeling that if they are not showing any problems then leave the injectors alone. There are alot of stories of folks replacing the O rings only to have one get cut while replacing it into the hole. As far a replacement parts I have heard on another forum to stay away from Dorman on the UVC harness. Some have good luck with them while others think that they are junk. You can get some factory ones HERE I'm not sure on the clip. I believe that I read somewhere you can get a replacement one or retofit one but don't remember where.

Replace the UVCH's with the factory ones from Ford or International. Replace the valvecover gaskets (also from Ford or International. You can fix the external harness with a harness repair kit. The kit will have the pieces for 4 connector shells and the seals along with a pin removal tool. The actual pins have to be purchased separately if you need any of those. Here are the numbers:

Under Valve Cover Harness (94-97)
(Ford) F4TZ-9D930-K
(International) 1815923C92

Valve Cover External Harness Repair Kits (contains 4 hard shells w/seals, w/o pins)
(Ford) F7TZ-14489-BA (94-96) w/o pins
(Ford) F7TZ-14489-AA (97) w/o pins
(International) 1830829C91 w/o pins
Female Pins, no wire lead (International) 1661875C1
Female Pins, with 6” wire lead (International) 2501055C1
Individual Wire/Pin seals (International) 1661872C1

Valve Cover Gasket (94-97)
(Ford) F4TZ-6584-A
(International) 1818350C2

Cheers!
