Did a long haul! Truck ran great!

Well i covered about 3k miles! IT was nice to get the truck on the open road for the first time ever! I have had it 2 yrs and its all been local driving! Had a couple issues before i left... Thermostat housing leaked, then the water pump went south! LOL! Got all those fixed just hours before departure..

The Truck did GREAT! I pulled a u-haul 4x8 trailer from Jacksonville to Detroit. I got a tad over 22 mpg in tow on flat land and about 18 in the mountains! All this at about 65 mph, what more could you ask for??? On the way back, i got unloaded just at 25 mpg! I love this truck more every time i drive it! Just rolled 183k miles and hope for many more!!!

Fine, congrats. 25 mpg are almost unbelievable . How did you calculate the MPG?, in what position was your chip? What gears in the rear end do you have 3:55 or 4:10?. Maybe I need a stage1s injectors.

chip was in position 3.. 3.55 gears and 100% cruise control! i do have a 5 speed, i dont know numerically if they are better in top gear than an auto, maybe something to consider. my truck has always gotten great mileage... ofcourse it takes driving like grandpa to achieve... i RARELY go over 2k rpm... i will shift at 2500 if i am getting with it lol!

You sound pleasantly surprised.

One has to wonder, with all their problems, if it's worth it for the average user to drive a diesel.
