Dorman vs. Ford/International Valve Cover Gaskets

I need to replace both valve cover gaskets and at least three under vavle cover wiring harnesses due to burnt connections. What's your opinion of the Dorman kit? Am I better off with Ford/International?

Cheers from Claremore, OK!
Dave

This was one of my first problems with my PSD and used the Dorman parts. Installed them about a year ago and 20K miles later still working ok.

I've used both and I voted for the factory stuff. The quality of the Dorman stuff can be iffy (pins pushing out, wiring order off, etc.), but if it's all that one can afford (times are tough), use it. Cheers!

my outer harness plugs were melted so i ordered glow plugs($9.95 each) and 2 of the dorman vc gasket kits($49.95 each) from summit racing. it included the valve cover gasket, under gasket harness AND outer harness repair pigtail. total $192 includes shipping. removed vc and found inner plug melted as well. changed out passenger side parts so far. will do driver side today. btw 240,000 on the truck.

I see.. that's not me luckily.. although my idle does seem to be inconsistent. Some days the idle is very loud, harsh and abrasive..and some days it seems to idle like a newer model V8. I don't get it but i've written it off to the weather, fuel differences, or just a bi-polar PSD.. :-)

It does seem to be idling a lot better since I cleaned the fpr screen though.

I use the Ford/IH parts, but like Pat said lots of people are tight on money, so if you have need to use Dorman, or Felpro use them but would not use a cheaper off brand though... Just did my 95 F-350 with Ford parts did valve covers, under harnesses, engine harness, HPOP, LPOP, IPR, ICP, IDM, glow plugs and relay, and CPS.
