E4OD Coast Clutch Assembly

I removed the pump today and the coast clutch assembly was slowly rocked out while moving the transmission around and getting the rear seal off. It didn't fall or anything, it was just on the edge of its "slot".

Anyways, right behind the coast clutch assembly was a retainer snap ring that was laying around loose. The assembly already had one on there so it didn't need a second one - but I could not for the life of me see where this "spare" ring was supposed to go. I checked the breakdown and didn't see a mention of a second ring.

Any ideas? As some background, whoever worked on this transmission last did a half-ass job. One of the transmission-to-engine bolts was missing, and 3 of the others were hardly tight (the weight of the ratchet loosened them). Not to mention the three missing nuts on the cross member brace, as well as the two rear mount bolts that were no where to be found. So if you guys tell me the extra ring is from a poor rebuild job, I'll believe you!
