electrical problem

Mechanic repaired rear electrical windows and when i picked up the truck the speedometer and rear fender lights stopped working. Also the transmission shifts very hard. I checked the fuses and everything looks okay. Any suggestions.
Thank you
Scooby

Make sure all of your brake lights work. Sometimes when the third brake light is burnt out it can cause irratic shifts. Also check your VSS in your rear axle.

thanks for the quick response! I checked the third brake light and it is out, I'll replace the bulb tomorrow and let you guys know if that solved the problem.
Thanks again

The VSS is in top of the rear diff. You can pull it, clean it, check its connections and see what happens. If you want to replace it, its fairly inexpensive at any auto parts store.

Is your O/D light flashing on your shift lever (assuming this is an auto)? I know you said that you checked your fuses, sometimes it is easy to glance past one especially when they all look the same (fuses inside the truck, driver's side). Good luck.

I had your symptoms years ago on my '94 F-250 gasser. It turned out to be a fuse in the underdash fuse panel. If all of your fuses are good, ask your mechanic where he made the widow repair and start there.
