Fan

Hello all i think i have figured out the reason my serpentine belt has failed. the fan moves side to side and up and down. The truck does not run hot, it is in the normal range. My question is.... what have i messed up? Any ideas if just the fan clutch has gone bad or if the whole water pump has gone too, no fluid is leaking from the pump. what and if this is something i would be able to replace my self and what should i be looking for also while i am in there. I would like to save some money in the labor charge but...... if it has to got to the shop please let me know

You need to look closely at which part is moving .....(very closely)....

Water pump is a simple repair ..so is the fan clutch...Maybe 300.00 for both...

I just bought a fan clutch from the dealer. With my discount it was just a hair under $300 alone.

List was $364!! You get that kind of discount?

Maybe the price went up. I usually get about 25% off list. It's typically about what it costs at the parts store.
