Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

I just replaced mine on my 96 but I think my filter housing might be leaking too (cracked?). BTW you can get the screws out with the filter in place. I got this little racheting deal from Harbor Frieght. You squeez the handle and it turns the bit comes in a box with all the bits. Mine was philips but the kit has torx bits also. Was real easy with that tool ($14).

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

McMaster-Carr tends to sell o-rings in packs of 25 or 100. There has been a vendor on ebay selling them in individual service packs for the PSD drain valves. Or just buy them and share them with 24 of your friends as they are fairly cheap (viton ones) from McMaster-Carr.

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

A great product to trace fuel leaks is Spectroline Gas-Glo p/n 1U-5574. It's a fluorescent dye designed to be poured into the tank and fluoresces under black light at the point of the leaks.

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

Mines leaking again go figure... Damn pile of junk Ford... Anybody have a place that sells these o-rings? These guys around here are complete idiots and don't know what a part is unless their little computer tells them what it is.. I will pay postage if somebody can get me the correct o-rings to do the whole housing...Thanks!

??? Nobody
Does anybody else see a problem with some of the parts on these Ford trucks? It seems as if they were engineered to break...

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

I answered my own ? w/ a little more research. And found a kit that had the little oring in it. The obs needs the little one, and the sd's don't.

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

Hey. I have a 1996 Ford F350 7.3 Power-Stroke. I have diesel puddled on top of my engine and disel dripping down on the trans and starter. Is this what you are referring to? HELP...

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

I just talked with the parts dept with my local Ford dealer. Said they sell a seal kit for the valve for ONLY $36!!! I ordered the o-rings from McMaster-Carr....1 package of 25 lists for under $6....a real no-brainer.

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

I have a 95 f350 leaking from the water in fuel probe, or the heater connector. What ever the one with the single red wire going in is. Does anyone know what the O-ring size is for that fitting? Ford wants $46.00 for a reseal kit for the fuel bowl. I bought 20 ea. viton #202 and #013 at a local seal wearhouse for $5.00, & would like to purchase the rest of the seals from the same place. I just need sizes.

Thanks

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

Hey Rollernose, I'm having the same problem. Mine is coming from the same spot (red wire going in at the top of the fuel bowl) and when I looked up replacement o-rings the website said that the O-ring will not stop the leak and the whole sensor had to be replaced...
http://www.dieselorings.com/index.ph...&cat=3&group=2

Anybody else have any other suggestions or similar experience?

thanks

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

Ok, I stopped by the local diesel mechanic and bought a Water In Fuel sensor. The problem with it has nothing to do with orings... it is the sensor itself. 60 bucks and a crescent wrench and it is fixed.

Re: Fix your fuel leak from filter drain valve

A quarter inch thumb wheel rathcet works really well with a torks bit...thin k it s a#10 but not positive. The seals can be done without removing the bowl-even with descent sizt hands!
