Just received recall on the speed deactivation switch in the mail today, although I had already replaced mine back in 05 because mine was leaking.
the letter went on to say that if repair was already made you could get a refund with a receipt only.(saved mine, waiting for recall!) also said until repair is made don't park your truck in a garage (gasp) keep a distance from other structures! anyone else already replace theirs?

I just took mine in to a dealer today(shudder). They changed out one pigtail with another that has two fuses built into it. The whole assembly is already put together. They unplug the old one and install the new one. I took five minutes to do and another 10 minutes for them to complete the "no charge" paperwork.
I did call a few different dealers to make sure I could get the fix done while I waited. One dealer extimated 2 hours to complete and another was 1.5 hours. I understand Ford has been doing them on other models for some time and our trucks were recently added on the ever expanding list.

Reason: spelling
It replaces the wire harness that plugs into the master brake cylinder with a harness that has a fuse attached to it. The problems that they were having was the switch on the end of the brake cylinder would leak brake fluid down onto the wire insulation witch would destroy the insulation short out and cause a fire. There were quite a few F150 that went up in smoke along with the garage or carport that it was parked in.
Yea, look at CNN. They were "lucky" enough to "happen" to have a camera rolling and shot live video of an F150 fire a couple years ago. I'm still debating how brake fluid which does "NOT BURN" coupled with a couple wires shorting causes a fire with flames 125ft in the air? It's the news though and they would not fabricate this balony? Sure they would and did. A F150 on fire regardless of the cause does not have flames 125ft in the air. Bull**** and you can all believe it if you want. If the wires smoldered and started fire you might have 3ft of fire "if" the fire was fueled with gas nearby. Diesel does not burn, brake fluid does not burn, wires are mandated flameproof and do not burn, so chances are less than 1 in 120 trillion of a fire. So hide the women and children and park the trucks out in the Yukon territory for gods sake and don't start a fire please.

I personally haven't seen a diesel truck with any fire problem, somebody on here said that their cousins step dads, ex-wifes fourth son had one catch of fire but I doubt it. All that I could figure on the gas trucks was that after the fluid destroyed the insulation and the wires shorted out (since on the gas trucks the power does not shut off with the key) it caused problems down stream of the actual problem. The big problem is that after a engine fire it is really hard to pinpoint just where it started. It just looks like a barrel of burnt copper wire.
When I was in high school my 71 Datsun pick up had electrical issues. It had a screw in fitting in the brake line by the firewall, with two wires comming off it. One day the wires shorted, and burned through the fitting, and the brake fluid caught fire and shot a flame 3 feet in the air hitting the open hood. It continued because I tried grabbing the wires and breaking them, all I did was burn my hand. When the fuid ran out the fire died.
Are you kidding me? lol I just about crapped my pants laughing.
Go pour diesel on an open flame and see how it doesn't burn.

Try lighting it with a match or lighter - can't do it. Guys at the truck repair shop I used to supervise in didn't believe me so we put a puddle on the ground and they could not light it. I have never tried pouring it on an existing flame, though.
They did not try a cutting torch, though (here, hold my beer and watch this)
Gasoline, on the other hand....
