After the battle of multiple leaks i found another culprit. A sensor on the drivers side of the fuel bowl w/ single wire, ford parts guy calls it vacuum switch. Anyway started messing with it yesterday and left it unplugged, drove about 10 miles home and turned it off. Ran fine this morning to work. Left to run errands threw CEL and hiccuped.
After a few more errands last stop Ford, got unknown switch (E8TZ-9S283-A), pull out of lot and starts running horrible, limp it to my shop and its idle is bouncing between 400rpm and 900rpm. Replace "mystical switch" start it up still runs horrible. Limp it to neighbor mechanic (not very familiar w/ diesels) leave it idling and it really starts bouncing and cackling BAD, so I shut it off. He pulled codes P1282, P1212, and P1211 and then cleared them. Now truck just cranks and no start. I have seen many posts for no start but none of those symptoms seem to apply because it ran fine before I unplugged the sensor. PLEASE HELP!!

.Maybe this will help........DTC P1282 indicates excessive injection control pressure was detected during continuous diagnostic monitoring.
Possible causes:
intermittent IPR control circuit short to ground
stuck IPR
DTC P1211 indicates that injection control pressure was above or below commanded desired pressure during self test mode.
Possible causes:
incorrect oil or viscosity
poor oil quality
gel fuel/no fuel
low fuel pressure
damaged IPR valve
high-pressure oil system leak
damaged high-pressure oil pump
damaged PCM
Continuous DTC P1212 in federal vehicles, indicates that there was no ICP detected during crank (long crank time) or a bias ICP sensor signal was detected at key on.
On California vehicles, continuous DTC P1212 indicates that there was no ICP detected during crank (long crank time).
Possible causes:
high-pressure oil system repair
empty/low oil reservoir at crank
low engine oil level or incorrect viscosity
IPR circuit fault
damaged low-pressure oil pump
damaged IPR valve
damaged ICP sensor
damaged high-pressure oil pump
Check engine oil level.

Truck starts right up sometimes, others have to crank for 20 secs or so. Once it fires it runs for exactly 32 secs (I timed 6 times)whether it is at idle or I hold it at higher rpm's. Have pulled codes P1280 & P0344.I replaced the CPS about 10K ago. The P1282,P1212, and P1211 haven't shown up again. Read another post about IDM corroding or having water in them. Pulled it out and shook it to see if it had water in it but cant tell. Would it be a bad idea to break the seal and open it up? Any other ideas?
Thanks,Neil

Action4478, as you wrote that post I was disconecting what i think is the ICP (front of drivers head by HPOR) Took even longer to start but stayed running til I shut it off.

[/ QUOTE ]You either have junk in the IPR or the ICP needs to be replaced..I'll try to figure out which one...The ICP is less money ...Did you look at the connection to the ICP to see how clean it was ???

IPR is on the back of the HPOR, low on the drivers side, RIGHT? Either way that sensors wiring is pretty chewed up and looks like the 2 wires have touched. Looks like the fuel leak may have trashed those wires. Trying to track down a new harness, but stealership has nothing but idiots in their parts dept. Do you know if the short little harness is sold seperate? What concerns me is when the truck runs it will only run for 32 secs. It makes me think that maybe something is shorted to the GP timer because thats the only timer I know of. Any thoughts?

The G P 's are on for an amount of time determined , primarily,by the EOT,, ...When the wires on my IPR touched ...I needed an IDM ...I hope you don't...
