fuel mileage issues.

hey everyone, so i have just bought a 96 f-250 4x4 crew cab short bed with 155,000 miles on it and lifted 6 inches on 38's.i had just sold a 97 f-350 5 speed reg. cab long bed and got about 16 mpg freeway with a 4 inch lift on 35's. on my way home from purchasing the 96 i only got about 11 mpg and was gutless. the truck has the edge evolution on the race/tow setting and an intake and 3" down pipe. it is also an automatic and has a b&m shift kit. the previous owner when putting on the lift and tires did not re-gear the truck. could this be why the mileage is so horrible? i believe it has 3.55's and my rpm is at about 1900 at 75. i dont think that the lift and tires would make that big of a difference over my previous truck.
thanks in advance, Clayton

Mine made a difference..I used to pull 1900 at 55 now its about 1750 after I recalibrated it. Its not hard at all to recalibrate the PSOM. After that, I would check your fuel pressure and tire pressures. My outer duals were down to 30-35psi when I got my truck!!! that will get you bad mileage. I get 16-17 with a cc dually on 235r16, you should get better mileage.

Reseting Recalibrating your PSOM for the Correct Speed

Go there to figure out your psom constant. Thats the number you enter into the trucks computer.

Then you ground the PSOM labeled LB/Y wire under the glove box. Is says psom on it and has a single spade connector. Then hold reset on the dash cluster and turn the key forward. Push reset again and use select to decrease the constant till you get the number you figured.

Reseting Recalibrating your PSOM for the Correct Speed

If you go to your tire manf's website and figure out its revolutions per mile, then you can just take it times 120 and divide it all by 8000. That is,

(R*120)/8000

Where R is your specific tire sizes revs per mile.
