Fuel pump safety switch

Does the PSD have a fuel pump safety switch like the gas model truck?

I just got finished installing a LUK flywheel/downpipe combination on a friend's 96 CC. Lots of floorpan massaging to clear the pipe. You know, Sawsall and hammer.

The thing is, the truck won't start now for nothing!

Could I have tripped the switch by beating on the floor?
Owner's manual says it's behind the RH kick panel, which it ain't. I guess that is just for gassers, right?

Help is appreciated. Gotta drive this thing to marvel in the improvement.

Thanks,
Barry

Re: Fuel pump safety switch

The diesels do not have the fuel pump shut off. I don't know what to tell you about the no-start.

Re: Fuel pump safety switch

Should be a mechanical pump if still stock, so no switch. Not sure what you might have bumped, but check all wiring at the starter and on top of the engine. Also check for blown fuses under hood and in cab.

Re: Fuel pump safety switch

Hey, great news! I let the battery charger replenish the batteries for about an hour, and low and behold it finally choked to life.

I don't understand. With my experience, these trucks don't like the batteries being disconnected for a day or so. I know the PCM had to relearn the driving portion, but I couldn't even get it to start so that I could.

Apparently you were right, there is no fuel cutoff switch.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Re: Fuel pump safety switch

Have the batteries load tested. If they get weak it may crank OK but not leave enough voltage for the IDM to fire.

Re: Fuel pump safety switch

Just for an FYI, always check to see the the tach moves while cranking. If it doesn't it means the CPS (crankshaft position sensor it bad). When they go bad they won't start if your life depended on it.
