GP relay voltage

What should the voltage be at the glow plug relay when the glow plugs are on? The voltage drop across the terminals is less then .3 volts.

Your relay sounds good. The voltage should be whatever your batteries are at (unless you're measuring on the other side of the relay ... then subtract the 0.3V). If the voltage is low, maybe you need new batteries. Cheers!

Thats what I'm trying to figure out.... how much voltage is needed for these glow plugs to work properly? I have a significant drop in voltage when the glow plugs fire up. like maybe even a 3 volt drop...

There will be a significant drop but 3 volts sounds pretty high. (I'll go check mine this morning and let you know for sure). I believe 2-2.5 volts is normal. Does your starter seems to spin as fast as normal? If not I would suspect your have weak batteries or bad battery cables. Have your batteries checked at a parts store. If they check out then look over all your battery connections really close for corrosion.

My voltage drops from 12.7 with the GP relay off to 11.8 with the relay on. I reviewed my Ford service CD and it says the voltage should be 12-9 volts depending on the condition of the batteries. My personal feelings are, with a 3 volt drop your batteries are weak...for whatever it is worth.

Yea I'm going to get my batteries checked this weekend. One is kinda old, but I have a feeling that this isn't going to fix my problem. Thanks for all your help!!
