Headlight lens

My headlight lens have got a beige film on them and it has decreased my headlight coverage at night. Is the a product or a way to make these lens covers clear again?

Thanks for your help

Re: Headlight lens

Thanks for the great link! Just curious, it does not list the 96 or your 97 as years covered? guess several years works?
Thanks!

Re: Headlight lens

Sure looks like it may work.

It's a $25 gamble.

shipping / handling is 9.99....

Supposedly it's enough to do 4 sets of headlights.

My '93 tbird sure could use it.

My friends have improved theirs with rubbing / polishing compound and a buffer, but that really should be done with the lights out of the vehicle... which can take some time. This method looks like you just apply a couple different chemicals with lights in place.

I'd be interested to hear someone's 1st hand experience with this stuff.

Re: Headlight lens

Howdy all!

As much as I love the look of diamond cut lights, I didn't have the money to spend on them so I went the compound/buffing route.

I went to my local sears and bought this kit for my corded drill:
Craftsman Buffing Wheel Kit

From what I remember, I used the brown stuff on it and it worked very well. I didn't take my lights off, since the wheels are pretty portable. It didn't come out as clean as a new light, but it made a huge difference. My wife noticed a difference first time she rode with me.

I also let my buddy use the kit on his Plymouth minivan and was just estactic with the results. Used all of my compound (lights on his were really bad), but bought me a new kit.

I'm going to try the white stuff on my Tymar intake (plain jane with no polish or anything. I used the other compounds and those made a nice difference. They gave it a nice shine and can see my reflection.

Hope that helps.
JB

Re: Headlight lens

Jazz, with a palm orbital sander, 100 grit to 220, the same polishing kit you have for a bench grinder and many, many hours of working on the aluminized piece, (sucker is hard as hades), a coat of clear coating to finish, (keeps rust spots from coming thu). I turned my tymar tube from: THIS to: THIS Blow the pic up to full size, it shows the tube a little better.... Good luck with it.....

Re: Headlight lens

I got a bottle of polish for headlights at advance auto. Wet sanded lenses with 1500 grit paper followed by polish and hand buff. The stuff worked GREAT! Total cost was about 15 bucks and 15 minutes of time.

Good luck

Dave
