A little frustrated here. Just before Christmas on a cold morning, got a CEL. Was intermittant as I was on and off throttle. Went into limp-home mode and hard shifts at first stoplight -- three miles. Got to work -- 2 more miles -- shut off. Back out and in truck 1/2 hour later and ran fine w/ no code rest of day. Next day, same scenario down to whare hard shifts started. Scanned it myself and found TPS code.
Took to mechanic, he scanned and got TPS and CPS code. replaced CPS and said pedal tested fine and TPS code was likely the computer??? He said drive it till it goes bad.
No code for several days, then first cold day (Forgot to plug in) back comes CEL and ran really bad as warmed up and on way to office.
Next day, CEL when turned to on position (truck had been plugged in). Let warm up 5 minutes, came back out, no CEL and ran great.
Last 2 days have been below zero. Got code at start and through 5 minutes of warm-up each day. Went away as soon as headed down the road.
So, I scanned again and got TPS code. Took it to a second mechanic who scanned and got TPS and CPS code. This guy wants to replace CPS and pedal assembly to tune of $800!
So, any clue who is right or wrong???
Also, last 2 days mpg's are down the drain -- I'm guessing down to 10mpg. Is this related to the codes or in anyway to the cold? Never had the mpg's go down last 2 winters in such weather.
Thanks!

Here are the exact codes:
P0344 Camshaft sensor problem intermittantly
P0221 THrottle position range problem
The pedal certainly does not act like it did when it went bad before -- that time, when acting up, would not throttle unless you tapped it a couple times.
As to CPS, I'm willing to concede a bad, new, CPS or bad connector, but geez, where does a guy go where they don't want to automatically replace parts before doing some testing first?
