HELP.. no power and rough runing

this problem started on the way home from work. started fine then got on the road and it lost power i had it flored and couldnt get over 40mph black smoke was roling out but it acted like it wasent timed right. the check engine came on and so i pulled over and hooked up my scan tool no codes found. then i shut it off then started again it started normaly then the check eng comes on and again sounds like crap. i went home pulled the chip and it still did it. then i took it for a drive later and it was fine then later it did it again. i poped the hood and wiggled the IDM wires and it quit then i pulled every thing apart and wiggled more put it back together and it seames fine then it did it one more time. i changed the fuel filter, cleaned the fpr screen and replaced the cps. im just wondering if this is a sighn of a IDM craping out or a PCM. i also didnt find an loose broken or bear wires any ideas would be helpfull sorry about spelling im bad.

if your EBPV is still intact it may have slammed shut on you, thus the no power and black smoke. Verify its position and unplug it, or gut it. Check it just to eliminate it as a possable.

Sounds EXACTLY like what happened with my truck. Ended up being the injector wiring at the valve cover. I kept having to use carb cleaner on the connectors just to keep it running. After I limped it home, I purchased the valve cover gaskets and the plastic connectors from the harness to the gasket. When I pulled the connectors out of the old plastic onnector, I noticed that the 2 outside wires on the rear connector on the drivers side of the engine were actually burned off! I spliced new new end on and now the truck runs great.

I got the gaskets from NAPA for about $70 each - ouch - and the connectors from Ford for about $40 (included a removal tool for the connectors)

Are you saying you re-installed burn't connectors? I think you have answered your own question . . . Hopefully you have only burned the UVC harnesses and not the gaskets OR the Engine harness connectors which cost alot more. When you eventuallly replace them , fill ALL connections with Dielectric grease so they don't burn up again. I would also check your Intake system for leaks too along with MAP sensor . Good Luck

I'll second the intermittent problem can be your UVCH and gaskets. Mine was off and on again for a week till it finally crapped out. I was only running on 7 cylinders. Good thing you talked to this forum, the dealership wanted over 3K to replace a non-functional injector, and IDM they claimed was shorted. All said it was a 39.99 harness that fried. Another thing to do is replace your GP's if its been a while
