help please, truck will not start

Aloha Folks-
Ongoing as they say. First: I installed a new Glow Plug Relay and a New Starter Relay. Also, Ford told me that my batteries checked out ok on their load tester (I think their tester said my batteries were 650CCA). When I bought my truck (about 1.5yrs ago) the previous owner told me that they were fairly new batteries which were true but they are not heavy duty like 850CCA.

So, when I tried to start up my truck today the starter was sluggish trying to turn over. I went outside to make sure that my connections at the batteries were tight and they were. I tried a few more times to cycle the glow plugs and start the truck. By the fifth time the starter did not even turn. I just heard a "thump" kind of noise but the starter not turning over.

Could this be a shot Starter solenoid? I still have the original Ford starter in after 200K. Could it be that my batteries do not have enough juice when it is cold to cycle both the glow plugs then turn over the starter motor? Look forward to you advice here.
Mahalo
PS: it has been cold and wet the past 2 days.

Starter or batteries more than likely. Try a jump with one of those booster starters to rule out the starter.

Well,
Had the truck jumped and nothing happened. When the AAA guy tapped a little on my starter it tried to turn but that was it. So, he felt that it was not the batteries but my starter. So, I am going to try and pick one up soon. It looks like many of these newer ones have a 3 bolt pattern on them but I am told that it should still be able to line up, correct? Just wish it weren't raining right now!

Remember, you can get a SD starter and it should bolt right up. Cost less and better product.

Aloha RWhite-
Thanks for the tip! I just picked up a starter that says it is for 95~03 Powerstrokes. This thing is quite big compared to my original one. It has a 3 bolt pattern but I understand it should bolt right on and comes with an adapter. Does anyone know the torque specs for our bolts on these starters? Also, do the wires just come off the old and hook right into the new starters? Any tips are much appreciated. Thanks again.
