help please will not stay running ..

I just purchased a 1995 ford f350 with a 7.3 turbo diesel it will start on its own but it will only run for a few minutes. then it will shutt off i have to wait a few hours then it will start back on its own but does the same thing i know nothing about diesel so anything helps Thanks ,

You got to start by getting the codes read, lights or no lights. A shot in the dark says there is some chance that something in your fuel tank is blocking the feed line and then letting loose after it is turned off for awhile. I think you could take your fuel line off and put it in a can of diesel fuel but I would do nothing without the codes being read.

Same thing just recently happened to my 7.3. I agree with the previous poster about the codes. Turns out I needed a cam position sensor. I think is was about 120.00, and a good mechanic. If you're anywhere near Port. Or. I know someone.

The first thing you want to do is change the cps (cam position sencer) only like $30 at auto zone! if that dont work then you want to try you ipr valve. that is about $150 at auto zone. after you get the cps go to a ford dealer and they will change it. or i can post pictures of where it is and you can do it your self. but with the ipr valve you want to take it to some one cause its a but to change!
