I have a 1996 F-250. I need a new hood. Am pricing around and have found a big difference in price. Are aftermarket hoods a thinner, cheaper sheet metal than factory. I want an OE replacement but Ford wants $1200 for it, before paint. All the other places like Ford parts.com are under $200. What is the difference? I don't want a cheapo that will dent when i wax it.
Thanks!

If you get a "CAPA "certified aftermarket hood ,,you should be fine ,,with the savings ,you can do it a couple times if necessary...

These are the CAPA certified ones. I just don't know what the differnce is or if they just look cheap. Will the hood blanket fit underneath it?
It will be really hard to tell the difference(if at all)
I use them every day......prep it properly ,,,(acid etch primer ) no worries ....

I have a 1996 F350 with a 7.3 PSD. My air ram box sits just behind the drivers-side battery. Would a "hood scoop" be a good thing to slam more air into the PSD? Just wondering....
