Re: How big are my fuel tanks???

My 95 takes around 31 gallons when empty. So my guess is around 15 a piece

But Im new to the OBS trucks I just got mine so I might be wrong.

Re: How big are my fuel tanks???

1995 Ford factory service manual shows all 1995 f250 and f350 diesel models to be 19 gal front and 18.2 gal rear refill capacity EXCEPT the regular cab F350 4x4 - front tank is listed at 22 gal on that one, rear is still 18.2 gal.

Your 97 should be similar, I think.

Re: How big are my fuel tanks???

According to the FAQ section here at TDS a 1997 extended cab holds 37.2 gallons... 19 in the front, 18.2 in the rear.

Re: How big are my fuel tanks???

Bigger then you think. When the gage hits the RED empty mark, you still have around 4 gals left. The needle will go over a full needles width past the red mark before you run out.
Counting the filler neck that I can fill up now, I have put over 20 gals in each tank at one time or another.
I just ran my truck untill it ran OUT of fuel in one tank then switched to the other one so I would KNOW how low I could go. It doesn't hurt the truck but I don't do it anymore now that I know. It spit & spurtered a bit but kept running and cleared up in a few seconds.
book says 18 & 19 like has already been said.

Re: How big are my fuel tanks???

My '96 is a reg. cab long box, and I've put as much as 24.2 gal. in the big front tank, & 20.2 gal. in the little rear tank.... both the original factory tank and the OEM replacement tank I installed about 3 yrs ago when the old one rusted out. Been many times I've put in 40-42 gal. at a fillup. That 800 mile range sure is nice....
