Re: How much do glow plugs cost?

They run about 8-9 bucks each. If there is nothing worng with the wires?? you will not need to replace them, they are in a harness and thats about ... well you know what I do not know what a harness cost, 80 bucks maybe?

Re: How much do glow plugs cost?

When I did mine they cost around $8 each at AutoZone. Part number is ZD-11 and they come in Ford part bags, they are the factory equipment. You will need eight so, with inflation (did mine 3+ years ago) figure $80 for the glow plugs. Definitely do NOT use Autolites - there are several folks who have posted here with problems with the tips breaking off inside the engine with the expected major engine damage resulting.

The under valve cover wiring harnesses that feed the injectors and glow plugs can be had at Ford or International but I am on the road and do not have my part numbers here.

CLICK HERE to go to an excellent how to article on the glow plug system by Carpentractor.

LINK TO ARCHIVED THREAD I started when I did mine. The link in the thread for Carpentractor’s article does not work any more (Carpentractor moved the article) and the part number for the AutoZone / Motorcraft glow plugs has changed.

Hope these help out - Carpentractor's article helped me a lot.

I have both saved in MS Word if you would like them in that format. Shoot me an eMail at dpharis@eos.net with GLOW PLUG RELAY in the subject line and let me know what eMail address you would like it sent to and I will reply with the attachments.

Re: How much do glow plugs cost?

I got my Motorcraft gp's at Autozone for $7.99 apiece.

The part numbers for the harnesses are: F4TZ-9D930-K List price: $40.24 each.
The part numbers for the gasket are: F4TZ-6584-A List price: $41.38 each.

If you are still having hard starts after gp's and relay, I'd suggest replacing harnesses and gaskets. I just did and it starts great now.
