hpop to much pressure?????

What is the hpop pressure supose to be. Whe I hooked up the scan tool yesterday i noticed that it was at about 1000 psi at idl. when I reved it up it jumped to 4 to 5000 psi. tje ipr was at 11% at idl. I did not have any codes but I noticed that my truck misses above 2100 rpm and blows smoke until about 2600 rpm then clears up. I replaced the plug on the back of the head in thre oil galley but it started leaking again I think that the hpop might be building to much pressure. I am going to clean and install new orings on the ipr next week. dose this sound possible?????

It sounds like the edge filter is plugged or the HPOP is having problems . You didn't mention the year of the truck

Your by-pass valve should be dumping off before 4000psi, put a real gauge on it to confirm , 11% is a good number. It si chipped or do you have a 10k mod etc?

I suspect the ICP sensor. There is no way you had 5000 psi. There is a presssure relief in the pump that limits it to about 3800-4000. There is no "filter" to service. The edge filter is not a "filter" like a screen or oil filter. It's a flow diversion device that may catch a large chunk of debris that might clog the IPR quickly, but it's not likely something that would be in the pump anyway. Small debris that you would expect a filter to catch would go right past the edge filter. You can see what they look like here https://www.dieselsite.com/pdffiles/...structions.pdf

Unplug the sensor and see if the misses go away. If so, replace the sensor.

My next Question was going to be IPRDC% at those high pressures , I figured the ICP reading was false ...

I was just thinking that something was wrong because it keeps blowing the oil galley plug on the pass siide. I thought that the pressure should be running lower than what it is.

Like Nit said , may want to check it with a gauge to verify the pressure ..
