HVAC Blower Help!

The blower motor works fine but I can only use the last two positions on the 4 position switch. I changed the switch in the dash but it didn't help. Someone said there's a relay somewhere under the hood near the blower motor but I haven't been able to find anything. Anyone have this problem or know a fix?? Thanks

Re: HVAC Blower Help!

Have the same problem but have no idea where the relay is. Interested in the fix though.

Re: HVAC Blower Help!

Hey Roy,

I think they are still using a speed system that had short lengths of resistor wire in series with the blower motor to slow the motor for different speeds and some of those coil resistant wire will burn out and the blower will not work on that speed, this deal is mounted on the blower housing with a hole large enough for the res. wire to stick inside the housing, the last one i saw had a small rectangular insulated plate with two terminals on the outside to hook the wires and the res. wire was on the other side of the plate and inside the blower housing and the plate was mounted to the housing with two sheetmetal screws, so check on the blower housing to see if you see anything that looks like it.

Thanks,

Bill Miller.

Re: HVAC Blower Help!

As I recall, it's just like Bill said. Look for a wire connector on the housing near the blower. I think it's between the blower and the AC evaporator. Thot I had a pic but can't find it. If your AC Evap looks like THIS, you might want to clean it
