If you are talking about the plug on each end of the cylinder head it is to drain the oil from the high pressure oil galleries in the head. So if that is leaking you can pick up a new plug and O ring kit from the dealer to replace it.
If that is the leaking plug, which is not uncommon use a 3/8" drive to get it out and new one in.....some long extensions help, can't remember if you have to pull an up-pipe or the DP to get at it though....

The plug I'm talking about is just above the starter, you can see it if you look in the passenger front wheel well, you can see it between the frame, just below the header.
You may be talking about the oil galley drain plug. They are pipe threads, just tighten up. If that doesnt do it, back the plug out and reinstall with pipe dope on the threads.

There is a coolant plug that is also located in the end of the head that is 1/2 and has a 3/8 pocket for a ratchet to take it out. It's at the drivers side rear, just below the bottom corner of the valve cover. There is also the same thing in the front corner, passenger side.

This just went out on my 7.3. If is the plug that holds the dipstick it could get ugly. There is a large 'o' ring on the inside of the pan; if it fails you will be pumping oil out through the seal. International Harvester sells a kit to repair this in without pulling the motor. I tried, dropped the piece and OUCH! the motor had to come out. Some other kind soul posted step by step color photos with the International part number and infor if your are interested let me know.
