Question Little help please- dropping front fuel tank

I have a leak in my front fuel tank. I have the skid plate off and the straps ready to come down. Before I go any further I have these questions:

1.) Do the two fuel line connection devices just push off to separate them from the tank?

2.) Is the wire connection a simply disconnect?

3.) Are tanks repairable?

4.) Any not so obvious info that I would need to know about removal and reinstall considering I'm a software developer and not a mechanic?

Thanks

They use a spring-loaded quick-disconnect. A special fuel-line tool is required (about $5 at Autozone or similar stores). Sometimes crud can build up behind the spring clips, making it hard to get the tool fully inserted. Shooting some brake cleaner into the joint should be sufficient to soften and dislodge said crud.

Yes. The connector is usually mounted up to the frame, about a foot from the sending unit.

I've used JB Weld to repair fuel tanks before. But I recommend replacing the tank for peace of mind. I bought the front one for my old '95 for 125 bucks (Canadian).

Thanks for the info. I probably would have busted it off not knowing it needs a tool. Same with the wire - I figured it disconnected at the tank somehow - I couldn't really see up there very well. Thanks again because I was just about to go out and try to take it down.

Do you know where the leak is coming from, mine was leaking and the clamp of the big hose was a little loose, I tighted it and no more leaks. Just a thougth.

Mine appears to be leaking at the top under the front strap. It only leaks about a gallon or two when I fill it up all the way. Dealer want's $525.00 new so I hope I can JB Weld it or I'll look after market or salvage.
