Angry loosing RPM's at certain shift point

I've got a '97 F-350 SW, crew crab, 4X4 with the 7.3. When i take off at a normal pace or all the way to floor, my truck shifts fine from 1st gear to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd but shifts real quick from 3rd to lockup then fine from lockup to overdrive. When it shifts quick from 3rd to lockup, I loose RPM's (down to 1600/1700 RPM) causing the truck to loose power and takes it a little while to catch back up to 2000 RPM's. But if i work the throttle just right, i can get it shift perfect in every gear. Shifting at 3000 rpm and dropping down to 2000 rpm everytime. I've already changed out HPOP, all injectors, glow plugs, rebuilt transmission (with so said Ford upgrade Kit, not sure if I was lied to about that). I've got a superchip programmer (which I really don't care for, but shifts the same with or without programmer), S&B intake, 3" down pipe and 4" straight pipe to the back. I've already spent about $7000 in repairs that didn't help. Can anyone PLEASE help with this issue or give me a number to a good 7.3 mechanic that want lead me the wrong direction?

You spent that much to fix a designed in problem? It's too bad you didn't find someone who knew from the start what the problem was.

The problem is the programming. It is working the way it was designed. The ONLY way that this could be fixed is aftermarket programming. Obviously the programmer you have isn't doing the job.

Hi! 97 F-350 I did not like the superchip tuner either. I also used the bully dog chip for awhile which was fine but, the tuner I would recommend is the SCT tuner with custom DP tunes with the tuner you can scan for codes as well as being able to change the shift points also, at which speed it will shift. The tunes that I got was 40T,60T and 60E google DP tuner and give jody a call tell him what you are going to use the truck for and he will recommend which tunes to get also, make sure you tell him about any upgrades that you have done i.e. intake, ,HP injectors, exhaust . Later on down the road if you choose to add upgrades to increase HP you can call DP tuner to change the tunes. I have been using DP tunes now for 4 yrs. and love it. If you do not already have guages it is always recommended to get them when running a chip or tuner to keep an eye on temps EGT, trans, and boost. Good luck! themule
