Loss of power and hissing sound - Diesel Forum

I have a 1997 powerstroke with about 175,000 miles and it's making a strange hissing sound and has power loss and i just removed the back pressure valve today but its still doing it. please help

where is the hissing sound coming from?

Around the turbo it sounds like. when your driving it sounds like its right under the stick shift or in front.

you may have an exhaust leak from the manifold to the up-pipes causing a loss of exhaust pulses, or the compressor side may have a loose clamp to the intake manifolds,

do you have an intercooler?

no, the truck is bone stock even the exhaust, i just got it a week ago.

How did you removed the EBPV? did you gut it?, or just disconneted it?.
