Magnaflow system wont fit

I just bought a 4" S.S system and went to install it the first pipe off the down pipe the hanger ran parell with the frame and the stock hanger go's from left to right so it wont mount to the stock hanger . Has any one else bought this system and had this problem ???? by the way my truck is a 97 cc short bed I called Magnaflow he said this system is universal to all trucks and I have to delete one section of stright pipe in order for this system to fit my truck and that I may have to take it to a muffler shop to have the hangers modifyed any help on this would be great I was told this system would bolt right up to my stock system

Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

While I don't have this system it does sound like it may bolt up, just doesn't work with the stock hangers. Are the hangers close enought to where you could bend them to fit? If not then maybe a universal hanger from NAPA or somebody else unless you have access to a welder.
This seams to be a constant problem with a " <font color="red"> Universal fit </font>".

Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

I'm not sure after I saw some of the issues I boxed it all back up to ship it back . But I plan on pulling it all back out tonight to see if I can make it work .
Thanks for your reply

Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

I have the Magnaflow XL kit on my truck. The kit is stainless steel except the muffler is not. The kit fit very well for me....I just had to cut one pipe since the kit is universal (made to fit CC longbed). I love the system and the hardest part was taking the old factor system off. I did notice better performance and better mileage too! Nice sound and good looking 4" system.

Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

Did the first section of pipe off the down pipe fit the first hanger ?on the one I have the hangers on that first pice of pipe run with the frame and on my stock system the hangers went from left to right . the guy at magnaflow also said it makes a differance on what month my truck was MFG So I need to look on the inside the door and see 7th month and up makes it a 98 anything before that makes it a 97
Thanks Luke

Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

i dont even have that hanger on my exhaust and its fine. the kit i bought required welding it on and i just clamped it all together than went back to weld most of the pipes a month or so later but i lost the little peice and it has been fine for over a year.

Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

The first section fit very well on the stock down pipe....I later put in a 3" downpipe and found that my new downpipe was short by about 1 1/2 inches....... I had to take it all loose and get as much exhaust system to slide forward including that first hanger (I move it foward about 3/4"...drilled new holes in frame and put it back in, not Magnaflows problem). Then I had to get a piece of 3" to extend my bottom section of downpipe to meet the first section. In all every hanger fit, and the magnaflow system was great...Love it a lot! Re: Magnaflow system wont fit

I have the same system and had the same problem you do but I put the system on without that hanger until I could get to a torch to bend it to fit.Very happy with system sounds good and fit was great besides the first clamp good luck.
