I just replaced my stock dual-mass flywheel, clutch, T.O. bearing, and clutch fork with a Luk single mass flywheel / clutch kit.
It all went together well. I also rebuilt my clutch pedal assembly. Everything feels like new now.
When I drive at low speed I now hear a rumble sound. It reminds me of driving with knobby tires on a hard surface. I also have the feeling that it sounds like dry bearings - like I was driving with a dry transmission or bad wheel bearings.
I've read some posts where people described the Luk SMFW as being noisier at lower speeds. Perhaps that is all it is, however, I really don't understand how / why it should sound any different... unless I've done something wrong!
It takes some getting used to. I just did mine as well and can tell ya wait till you hook onto a load and you'll see noisy. If it goes away at higher speeds I wouldn't worry.

YEP, my 97 with luk does the same thing

I drove one that had the luk and it was very noisy. Luk has a great reputation for durability so I wouldn't worry about it. I ordered mine from napa which is a rebadged valeo, not that I wanted the valeo it's just napa had it the next day. I must say that the valeo is much much quieter than the luk is but thus far can't say it's gonna last forever but am very happy with it. As I said though I do tree work and am constantly pulling a dump trailer with 10 ton and the low gear noise is very evident at that point but empty it is no different than the dmfw was. In addition to the noise the smfw revealed a syncro going out in 2nd gear that was barely noticable before.

Mine has had the same thing for three years and somewhere around 50,000 miles give or take. My only complaint is clutch chatter when slipping the clutch backing a trailer, otherwise an excellent choice. Light years ahead of that idiotic dual mass factory weirdness.

i have loved the LUK in my 90 idi for about 45k now pretty soon you wont notice it (the moan). only thing i wanted to add is if your running 36s or taller with 4.10 gears or higher be sure to use low range if backing up hill with a loaded trailer 12k+. I cooked my first disk just being an idiot.
