No start...How to test CPS?

I have a 95 Powerstroke that won't start. I have changed the CPS in it before so that was my first thought this morning when it would just crank and not fire. How can I test to see if the CPS is the issue or not.

The truck didn't just die on me like it did a few years ago while driving, which was the cps that time.

Also if it does turn out to be the CPS, does anyone know a link to some illustrated directions. I changed it a few years ago but forgot exactly how to go about doing it.

And if anyone knows where I can order one for cheap online, if the local stores don't have them. I go to a small college in South Dakota so all we got is a run down NAPA and a Carquest.

The only test would be to scan for codes in the PCM. On the other hand one indicator of a bad CPS is when you are turning the engine over if the tach moves up or if it just stays on the peg. If it moves it is ok if it stays on the peg you need to replace it. If it is bad NAPA should have one that will fit. To replace it you'll need a 10mm 6 pt socket and a screwdriver. Place a little oil on the O ring before you put the new one in. It is located at the 10 o'clock position from the crank pulley on the front of the block.

So what are the symptoms of your no start? Do you get the wait to start light? Oil up on the dip stick? Check your fuses, mainly #9 and #22 under the hood.

Went ahead and swaped in a new CPS, truck fired right up. Still would like to know where I can find a good deal on one to just keep in my glove box.

Ebay has them. I've heard there are some superstitions about what 'color' of sensor you get...
