I just bought a 95 F350 from a repo yard....got it dirt cheap because it won't start. Truck has 220K miles.
I brought it home tonight and did the basic checks...new batteries, found out the glow plug relay wasn't working, so I jumped it and the plugs pull a lot of amps so they're working, checked the oil level in the HPOP and it was full, oil pressure reads good while cranking, I forget to notice the tach...
I then pulled the fuel canister and it was full of nasty, black, oily-looking fuel. I drained the canister and had a buddy crank the engine while I watched the bowl. It filled up pretty quickly again but it filled back up with the same nasty black fuel.
I've done some searches, and that sounds like injector o-rings? Is that right? If so, how does that oil get mixed with the fuel going into the fuel canister? Would this cause a no-start situation?
Thanks!
Casey

Check the main oil level as well as the HPOP level. The HP oil can get by the injector o-rings and get into the fuel system through the fuel rails (and eventually into the fuel tank(s) via the return line). When my o-rings catastrophically failed at 175k, I used 8 quarts in 150 miles (or less since there was only 150 miles on a fresh oil change). It could also be algae in the fuel if the filter is black and slimy looking. Then you would need to probably drain the tanks and treat the fuel system with biocide. Cheers!
HPOP oil level is fine, but the main crankcase oil level is low. It looks like we need to clean out the fuel system, replace the injector o-rings, and then go from there....

Fresh batteries, found a blown fuse going to the GPR, topped off the oil level, and vroom! It took a lot of cranking and it slowly started firing on all cylinders, and then it smoked like a freight train for a few minutes. Took it out on the road and it took a mile or two to clear out the oil, but then it ran clean and clear. After sitting for a few minutes, it was hard to restart. Would this still be the o-rings?

Could be .....If it is from the uppers ,,,you'll see(with the valve covers off), oil bubling up from the base of the injectors ....

Mine did that too and then it never started again. # 6 Injector upper o-ring was gone.
Actually all of my o-rings were in rough shape . . . can't believe it ran as good as it did.
International is alot cheaper than Ford for the parts. If you have the time replace them all and don't look back.

Wow! VERY VERY good deal, and good job getting her running again! Best of luck with the o-rings.
